The Alitalia Group, made up of several companies active in scheduled and charter air transport, flies over 25 million travelers each year to hundreds of destinations.

The company chose Micro Focus to support its drive to improve overall application management. Alitalia uses the Micro Focus Application Portfolio Management (APM) solution to identify automatically and recognize all application components across its entire COBOL and PL/I application base. Micro Focus APM analyzes these components and stores their properties and characteristics in an open, easily accessible repository with enterprise-wide visibility. 

This automatically updated inventory of IT objects and their relationships provides the basis for Alitalia’s improved end user service levels. Additional benefits include reduced time and cost required for complex maintenance activities, along with improved quality of work. Alitalia uses the Micro Focus APM solution to aggregate all the detail about its application portfolio (at a logical level) to obtain an overall view of its applications, and to analyze the relationship between IT investment and business processes.
