Case Study : UBSSynopsis In 2004, the Micro Focus APM solution was employed to assist the international financial banking corporation UBS move their entire integrated banking system application portfolio from a legacy platform to the new IBM z/OS platform. This was achieved in just over 12 months, during which the system was required to continue to be fully operational and functional. Business benefits UBS were able to accomplish this commendable feat with the unwavering professional support of Micro Focus. The business benefits to UBS were evident during the project and will continue to support them in their success: - Quality assurance – by running continual test reports and parallel runs in production to speedily identify and rectify any risks or system glitches
- Risk management – Micro Focus helped UBS to establish a single source management process to anticipate and organise any possible risks in a systematic and efficient order to ensure project completion within the given timeframe
- No impact to functionality - There was no need to limit the functionality of the UBS system during the transition as the APM tool so UBS did not experience any reduction in productivity or customer satisfaction. Dr Hansbeat Loacker, Managing Director of UBS stated
“Our system supports hundreds of thousands of daily users and manages transactions worth billions of Euros. As such, this was an exceptionally ambitious project but (Micro Focus) was able to guarantee ‘business as usual’ throughout” - Flexibility - As part of a strategic solution programme to renew its IT assets, UBS can now focus more readily on the growing demands of their clients due to a more flexible and malleable system.
